All Time Low is a 4am melancholy song. It’s about the loss or a best friend and the empty, utterly lonely feeling it leaves behind. Inspired by a more hiphop production style, the whole song really revolves around that one keyboard line, the vocals and the beat. With bass clarinet and piano filling out the low-end in the chorus like a deep, earthy stab to heart. To me, the song feels like a solitary figure high up in a penthouse appartement, standing in front of a huge windowed wall and looking down at a city teeming with nighttime life, wondering if the person they miss could still be hidden somewhere among all those lights.
