I’m Only Brokenhearted was inspired by David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks”, and describes the teenage melodrama that is Audrey Horne. It channels the smoky Roadhouse bar, tinsel-lined and grimy, the band on stage playing to a deserted room. The vocals are pouty and sultry, with Klangstof’s Koen de Ward providing an extra moody opening verse. As some teenagers do, Jackson’s vocal shrugs off the true fragility of young heartbreak… and in doing so only makes it even more dramatic.
